Autoimmune Challenges
What is autoimmune disease?
Autoimmune disease is a wide range of diseases in which a person’s immune system attacks the tissues and organs it was designed to protect. Normally, the body’s immune system protects the body by responding to invading microorganisms, like bacteria and viruses. The immune system creates antibodies, which are special proteins that recognize and destroy the invaders. Autoimmune diseases occur when these autoantibodies attack the body’s own cells, tissues and organs.
What causes autoimmunity?
Scientists tell us they do not fully understand the immune system and what causes the body to attack itself. However, here at McElwee Natural Health and Healing, we believe that there are several triggers that play a huge role in developing an autoimmune disease.
A few examples of these stressors may be:
- Bacteria
- viruses
- toxins (chemicals, heavy metals, v a c c i n a t i o n s, mold, etc)
- hormones
- significant stress
- some drugs may trigger an autoimmune response
- parasites
Do you think you are dealing with an autoimmune challenge? We can help! At McElwee Natural Health and Healing, we believe the key is to identify the stressor causing the body to attack itself and design a personalized nutritional protocol to help support a healthy functioning immune system based on the member’s specific needs.
